Forklift Safety – Why Is It So Important?

Every year, an alarming number of forklift operators are involved in workplace accidents. Apart from the trauma caused, significant changes have occurred in the world of workplace safety. In particular, new regulations were created to ensure that more is done to protect forklift operators from injury. For example, Worksafe has put in place a zero tolerance policy with regards to breaches in forklift safety protocols. The new Worksafe Act now requires forklifts servicing and maintenance on a regular basis; documented evidence may be required if an officer were to audit your site.

The owner or hirer of the forklifts is also responsible for rectifying any reported defects in a reasonable period of time. This service agreement represents a part of that responsibility, but cannot force repairs be carried out once reported. Flexilift Australia technicians regularly undergo training in new technologies, techniques, products and work practices related to the industry. The customer benefits with up-to date information and efficient work practices.

Forklift Safety – A Mutual Responsibility

As standard practice, Flexilift Australia performs a safety check on equipment as a normal process of servicing your equipment. When they complete work at a customer’s premises, the technician will report any required repairs on your job card that you must sign before he/she leaves your site. We are committed to ensuring your equipment is in good safe working order at all times.

Likewise, when Flexilift Australia sends a technician to your premises to service or repair a forklift, it is the customer’s responsibility to also provide our technicians with a safe work environment. The technician should be given a place that it is uncluttered and away from other forklift traffic and in the event of rain, a place under shelter.

Flexilift will provide you with a full service report after each visit.

Arrange A Forklift Service In Melbourne

As we have noted above, regular forklift servicing is important for a wide variety of reasons. Not only will this help to keep the unit in working order and compliant, but it also serves a vital safety purpose. Flexilift Australia offer two options for any businesses that need to organise a forklift service in Melbourne.

The first option is to arrange an on-site inspection. This will involve forklift servicing via one of our mobile repair vans. Of course, mobile maintenance is a great alternative if you lack the time or operate on the other side of town. Once the Flexilift team arrive at your facility, they will conduct a thorough assessment of the forklift and provide any necessary repairs on the spot.

The second option is to book in a time or visit our Dandenong location. Here, Flexilift’s experienced personnel will carefully assess the unit and carry out any required repairs at our home base. All maintenance and repair work comes with a full service report. In general, we recommend that you arrange a forklift service every three months or following every 200 hours of use.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Please ring us on 1300 552 287 or contact us online.

    Breakdown Calls

Flexilift Australia will endeavour to respond to a breakdown within 2 hours of receiving your call unless otherwise agreed to at the time. It is our best practice however to respond within one hour. Contact us by phone on 1300 552 287 or the website.

Forklift Battery Maintenance And Battery Care

Another regular service our Flexilift technicians provide is forklift battery maintenance and battery care. From time to time, it is important to ensure that your forklift batteries are working at their optimum capacity. Contact Flexilift if you feel your forklift batteries are not performing as they should.
